Review

The Skagen Falster 3 offers the best specifications for a Wear OS smartwatch, using the Snapdragon Wear 3100 CPU and 1GB of RAM to deliver adequate performance for its limited Wear OS features. It is worthwhile to acquire since it has a stylish, appealing appearance, various useful features, and excellent Google service integration.

Skagen Falster 3 display

The 1.3-inch OLED display on the Skagen Falster 3 boasts a fine pixel density of 328ppi and is noticeably clear and bright. Overall, colors stand out, and the blacks are really deep.

The display is responsive to touch. There is hardly any lag when browsing the interface, whether using touch controls or the crown to browse apps. When browsing through the lengthy list of workouts, however, swiping with a finger through the interface is frequently simpler than spinning the crown and unintentionally pushing its “return” button.

However, one thing that clearly merits addressing is that there is still some work to be done regarding standby screens. With some of the watch faces that aren’t as bold as the others, it’s practically impossible to check real-time information during a workout without waking the watch.

Nice design

This watch will look great on anyone who appreciates modest, minimalist style, and the Skagen Falster 3 features attractive bands and watch faces. The metal body is spherical and feels solid without being heavy. The three buttons on the right are more decorative than functional. To move around the watch, use the spinning crown in the center. The Falster 3 is an excellent option if you want a wearable that will look well with a business casual or evening dress.

Comfortable to wear

The Skagen Falster 3 isn’t difficult to wear when working out, despite what its shiny appearance might suggest. In fact, Skagen’s creative use of handlebars at the top and bottom of the watch to separate the connecting strap from the smartwatch itself allows air to reach your wrist while the watch itself is just light enough to avoid becoming cumbersome. Although it draws lint and hair, it is cozy and does an excellent job of framing the watch, giving it a distinctive look.

The buckle, on the other hand, never relents in its challenging resizing process. Since no prongs, loops, or magnets are involved, it is impossible to quickly change the size of the Falster 3’s watch strap.

Water-resistant

While it is 3 ATM maximum pressure means it’s not ideal for diving, it is water resistant down to 30 meters, so feel free to take it in the shower and engage in some mild swimming.

Four battery modes are available

The Skagen Falster 3 includes four battery-saving modes: three for high, medium, and minimal drain, as well as a custom mode toggling a dozen distinct potentially draining features including Wi-Fi, location, or always-on screen. Overall, as long as you’re prepared to fiddle with battery options manually, keeping this smartwatch running for longer is simple.

The middle setting, “Extended,” gives up some features to eke out nearly two days, while the high setting, “Daily,” keeps everything on and typically lasts all day. Time Only does as advertised by disabling connectivity and notifications in order to reportedly run for weeks. When it reaches specific capacity criteria, the watch will kindly urge you to switch to a reduced setting so you can keep the Skagen Falster 3 on longer while maintaining some functionality.

Skagen recommends a battery life of at least 24 hours, however this is a touch optimistic. How you use your smartwatch and how many notifications you receive will determine a lot of things.

Health and Fitness tracking

The heart rate sensor on the Skagen Falster 3 is functional while exercising and practicing deep breathing. It syncs with Google Fit and comes loaded with all of its fitness-related activities and functions, including stair climbing machines, curling, snowshoeing, running, and strength training.

Since the watch includes untethered GPS, so you can run without bringing your phone. It’s somewhat correct as well.

The Google Fit app allows you to set up heart rate monitoring and monitors your steps and heart points. It also provides you with various breathing techniques to keep you calm. The information it offers is relatively simplistic, and you won’t find much more even if you delve deeper into the program on your phone. It also includes sleep monitoring, but if you want to track it from your Skagen Falster 3, you’ll need a third-party program like Sleep as Android.

The disadvantage is that you have to manually start and stop each workout, unlike other smartwatches that detect motion automatically and ask if you’ve started an exercise and check in to see if you’ve finished. There is also an option to record workouts, which includes a long list of activities, from Aerobics to Zumba. Since just your most recent three actions are presented at the top, this process is time-consuming if you frequently participate in various activities.

This makes the Skagen Falster 3 not a particularly clever workout experience and might not be for you if you’re a fitness obsessive, along with the bulky-looking metal body.

Although there are certain drawbacks to Google’s fitness platform, there are plenty of Wear OS-compatible fitness apps available on the Play Store that you may use to sync your watch with. For a few examples, there is connectivity with LifeSum, GymRun, and Strava.

Android compatible

The Skagen Falster 3 is a Wear OS smartwatch that includes all the functions you’re likely to desire in a smartwatch and pairs flawlessly with Android smartphones. If you want a watch that works with Android and has a more casual vibe, the Skagen Falster 3 is for you. Fossil added unique features to the Falster 3 so that it can make iOS calls through Bluetooth.

All the major streaming providers are available if you want to listen to music on your watch. With 8GB of storage, there is also more than enough space, and a few apps make it simple to transfer tunes for local storage.

Even the more affordable Watch SE will be more useful to you than a Wear OS gadget, therefore if you already own an iPhone, it is still advised to purchase an Apple Watch. Because iMessages don’t work at all and there is no way to reply to messages from third-party apps, Android watch connectivity issues with iPhones are quite prevalent.

Nice and helpful speaker

With the speaker on the Skagen Falster 3, you can respond to Bluetooth calls from your watch or hear Google Assistant responses. The device’s side houses the speaker module. Sound is a tad tinny but call quality is good.

No wireless charging

On the rear of the watch is a power ring that may be attached to the charger. The Falster 3 charges using a direct capacitive connection, just like its predecessors; wireless charging is not supported.

Basic watch faces

The fourteen digital watch faces that come with the Falster Gen 6 are almost all dark with light markers, presumably as a battery-saving feature. But they are overly styled versions of simple watch faces.

Pricey for its basic wear OS features

First off, the Skagen Falster 3’s Wear OS comes preloaded with only a few apps—Google Fit and a few simple clock apps—but you can download a ton more from the Google Play Store.

Even while the Wear OS provides rudimentary fitness tracking, at times it can be difficult to utilize. Additionally, the UI is difficult to use, and there is no user manual. The app on your phone is the ideal tool for configuring several features of the Skagen Falster 3, including watch faces and tiles. There are no setup guides and the side buttons are difficult to configure.

Wear OS is perfect for you if you simply need the most basic watch features, and the Falster 3 is a terrific gadget for you. Although the Skagen Falster 3 is expensive, its basic wear OS features don’t fully justify the cost. In the same price range, one may easily find smartwatches with more complex features.
