Review
The Amazfit Bip U performs an excellent job of mixing smart features with health and fitness tracking in terms of speed, performance, and software optimization.
Improved fitness and health tracking features
Real-time heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen level testing, sleep tracking, stress monitoring, and a menstrual cycle tracker are all included in the Bip U. It also includes a BioTracker 2 PPG biological optical sensor, an acceleration sensor, a gyroscope sensor, and a completely redesigned user interface. The SpO2 sensor is another addition. In terms of fitness, it can track over 60 sports, which is a lot for a budget smartwatch. However, there is no GPS built-in.
Average battery life
The Bip U has a battery life of up to 5 days with intensive use and up to a week with light to medium use. The watch’s battery life suffers as a result of the watch’s numerous functionalities and additional sensors.
Waterproof
The Amazfit Bip U can also collect statistics about your swimming performance and has a 50-meter water resistance rating.
Great display
The Amazfit Bip U has a 1.43-inch screen with a 320 × 302 pixel resolution that appears vivid and sharp. It also has a feature called Lit upon Lift Wrist, which activates the screen when you lift your wrist. It can be left on all day or switched on and off at a specific time each day. The display has excellent indoor visibility and can also be read outside. The screen is similarly curved, and it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with an anti-fingerprint coating. The touch screen is likewise good, with good touch response and gesture operations, however, unlike the Bip S range, it is not transflective.
Supports both android and iOS devices
The Amazfit Bip U uses Bluetooth 5.0 LE technology and is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. The Zepp app is used to pair the smartwatch and offers you additional control over it. You will receive notifications, however, the number of notifications that can be displayed on the watch is limited to ten. The watch also alerts you to incoming calls, giving you the option to refuse or silence them. You won’t be able to respond to notifications, and you won’t be able to receive calls. Aside from that, the watch now displays some popular emojis, which is a welcome addition.
The app experience is a little underwhelming. While the pairing process is straightforward, the main issue arises afterwards. A few times, the Bip U becomes disconnected from the phone. Furthermore, reconnecting and synchronizing takes a lengthy time. The Zepp app still offers shortcuts for the same options in many places, and those that the device doesn’t support are grayed out rather than hidden.
Customizable watch faces
The Zepp app for the Amazfit Bip U offers 50 custom watchfaces. You can also make one by uploading a picture from your linked smartphone.
